Dryer Vent Cleaning in Northeastern Indiana
Having a washing machine and clothes dryer in your home is a great convenience. However, these devices must have maintenance just like any other major system in a household. In fact, the dryer has a special consideration that requires regular professional attention: cleaning its exhaust vent and hose. A congested dryer vent isn’t just an issue that can lead to an inefficient system that won’t get your clothes sufficiently dry. It’s also a potential fire hazard.
However, it isn’t difficult to arrange for the dryer vent cleaning from professionals that will correct the problem and see that you have a dryer that works effectively and safely. You only need to contact Collier's Heating & Air Conditioning and speak to our air duct cleaners. They can arrange for dryer vent cleaning in your home, either on its own or as part of routine air duct cleaning services. We serve Northeastern Indiana and the surrounding areas.

Why Dryer Vent Cleaning Is Important
As a clothes dryer operates, it exhausts heat through a hose to an outdoor vent. Fibers from the clothing also travel through the house, although some are caught in the lint trap. These fibers will become caught on the walls of the hose and start to accumulate, leading to these problems:
- Fire hazards: This is the principle reason to schedule routine dryer vent cleaning. Lint is a highly flammable material, which is why campers often use it as a way to start fires. The heat inside a dryer vent is high enough to ignite the lint, which will cause a rapidly spreading house fire. Clogged dryer vents are, in fact, one of the leading cause of house fires in the country, so scheduling for vent cleaning is a critical job to protect your household.
- Ineffective dryer performance: You can expect to have clothes that are damp after running a load in a dryer with a clogged vent. You’ll end up needing to run the dryer multiple times to get your clothes dried. (On the positive side, this is an excellent warning that it’s time to call for dryer vent cleaning.)
- Increased energy bills: Just as an HVAC system must work harder when it has ductwork filled with contaminants, a dryer will work harder when its vent is clogged up. You’ll pay much more to run the dryer than you would normally.
Aside from damp clothing and higher energy bills, another sign that it’s time to schedule dryer vent cleaning to watch for is when the exterior of the dryer becomes hot to the touch. This means excess heat is getting trapped. Don’t wait to call for cleaning when you notice this: it’s much better to catch it early before it can turn into a safety concern.

However, if you start to notice signs that the dryer vent is clogged up before it’s time for regular cleaning, call to arrange it as soon as possible.
